The problem.
Figma wanted teams to explore alternatives from the interface already running in code. Recreating those screens on a design canvas adds work before that discussion can begin.
What changed.
The February 2026 launch added a path from running interfaces to editable Figma frames through Codex. Teams can refine the design, then return its context to the coding workflow through Figma’s MCP server.
What was reported.
Figma and OpenAI documented a working connection in both directions. The evidence is a shipped capability for design iteration, with no published conversion uplift or measured improvement in design quality. Source: Figma
What the evidence can tell us
The launch accounts do not provide a controlled productivity study. An editable design does not prove the resulting interface is accessible, distinctive or ready for production; those outcomes still require review.
What we take from it.
For a business website, the useful opportunity is to make the design more specific. We would put real service descriptions, approved claims and actual customer questions into the early interface. Those details reveal whether the structure serves the business. A long heading, a complicated comparison or an unusual enquiry path can expose decisions that attractive placeholder content leaves hidden.
Visual iteration should have a clear question behind it. One version might make the offer easier to understand; another might give evidence more prominence or introduce a stronger brand voice. We would compare those choices using the same content, then carry the selected direction through typography, spacing and the quieter secondary pages. A shared canvas can help people discuss these decisions, but the team still needs to articulate why a particular choice works.
The final assessment belongs in the browser. A design can look coherent while its menu is difficult to operate, its forms lose useful context or its layout breaks with larger text. We would inspect those conditions with realistic content and complete a representative user journey. The handover should include the decisions and reusable components that let future pages maintain the same character, with a clear process for reviewing exceptions.
How to evaluate a similar idea.
Start with your situation and a question you can test. These are evaluation steps we would discuss before choosing an implementation.
- 01
Bring the real page content
Use the actual offer, supporting evidence and intended action to judge whether the page structure is useful.
- 02
Compare deliberate alternatives
Give each variation a purpose, such as improving hierarchy or making the business’s visual identity more recognizable.
- 03
Verify the working experience
Inspect narrow screens, larger text, keyboard interaction and form states after design changes reach the browser.
- 04
Make the next page coherent
Document type, spacing, components and editorial decisions so the website can grow with a consistent character.
